Requirements
Our client located in Atlanta, GA has an immediate long term contract opportunity for a Cross Release Manager/Technical Architect.
This individual will assist the program directors with Project Management responsibility. Additional responsibilities include:
• Cross-Release Solution View: Maintain cross-release solution architecture view; Allocate CR scope to one or more releases; Maintain & work issue/risk/action log of cross-release architecture items; Assist release architects; Prepare summary views for presentations
• CR intake/assignment; Gathering Impact Assessment; Distribution back to Release program manager; Report preparation for CR approval; Maintaining log of approvals
• Maintain cross-release budget/schedule view; Maintain & work issue/risk/action log of cross-release budget/schedule items; Assist release program managers; Prepare summary views for presentations
• Develop and maintain relationships with key client stakeholders as well as the Product Development team; Influence external teams to ensure right level of requirements and process flows are defined up front prior to work intake in IT to ensure successful release delivery
• Define a framework for future releases; Communicate to stakeholders PMO process to follow; Enable release program managers in enforcing the delivery schedule; Conduct critical checkpoint reviews to ensure cross-release consistency
• Represent director level release PMO team for cross-release status reporting; Collaborate with other director level PMO teams; Participate in status meetings & influence direction; Produce/conduct executive reporting
• Assist release program managers and integration architects with all technical aspects of the project coordination and management, including interface architecture, data mapping, testing strategy and testing management
• ORT Support: Assessment, Analysis and Evaluation of technical issues that come up during ORT for highly complex technological solutions in Ethernet portfolio
• Responsible for describing functional solutions within the OSS space
• Will work with development teams to ensure that appropriate architecture concepts, components, and patterns are designed and utilized
• Assists in the design and development of new or ongoing OSS software development projects
• Works closely with internal and external development partners to prescribe the appropriate functional and software architectures
• Develops systems, technical, or application architecture strategy and standards
• Designs technical IT architecture and provides support
• Develops the architectural blueprint for multiple business applications that fundamentally define the business logic of the enterprise
• Defines business drivers and their influence on the applications architecture, as well as data, application function and workflow elements
• Works with development and design teams to map applications architecture to the chosen technology platform
• Some weekend and overtime work will be required






Skills Description:
1. Be able to perform the areas outlined in the Cross Release Manager/Technical Architect responsibilities
2. Project Management Skills (includes managing large projects across multiple locations and organizations using MS Project). PMP Certified preferred
3. Operating Systems Experience (Sun Solaris, Linux, Veritas, and/or Windows)
4. Programming Experience – Unix, Perl, and/or Java. This experience must be on a development project, not “training only”. Other programming languages will be considered
5. “Hands on” experience in Development and Management of Wide Area Networks (WAN) that incorporate TCP/IP, LAN, SNMP, CMIP, X.25, V.24, and/or SunNet Manager (3+ years required). The candidate must have more than a conceptual, theoretical, or “training only” understanding of the technology.
6. “ Hands On” experience developing processes and procedures to implement and maintain the WAN for multiple locations (3+ years required). The candidate must have more than a conceptual, theoretical, or “training only” understanding of the technology.
7. “Detailed Working Knowledge” of Database Design and Development experience (Oracle, SQL, PL/SQL) (3+ years required). The candidate must have more than a conceptual, theoretical, or “training only” understanding of the technology.
8. “Detailed Working Knowledge” of Web Development Experience (BEA WebLogic, Netscape Enterprise Server, IIS, and/or MS Proxy) (3+ ears required). The candidate must have more than a conceptual, theoretical, or “training only” understanding of the technology.
9. Application Software tools: MS Office Tools (including MS Visio)
10. Demonstrated ability to appropriately interact with and respond to internal/external customers, project sponsors, senior management, internal/external suppliers and internal development teams for estimates, design, development and delivery.
11. Demonstrated ability to understand both business and technical issues that will impact the solution and explain the information to business and technical teams in language they can understand.
12. Demonstrates keen attention to detail.
13. Flexibility in working through many competing priorities.
14. Demonstrates the professional maturity to function in a fast-paced, demanding work environment. Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where the development cycle moves at a pace similar to a implementing a production fix.
15. Professional Maturity:
- Can work independently and be self-directed to take actions to get the work done to satisfy delivery expectations and client needs.
- Accepts and applies constructive criticism/suggestions to make improvements or changes in their approach to the project work.
16. Demonstrated ability to effectively work in a matrix-managed organization structure
17. Ability to drive collaboration efforts of matrixed teams to a solution.
18. Prior experience in delivering applications or infrastructure releases across multiple organizations and locations.
19. Prior experience providing and/or managing production support for hardware, software, and/or network issues.
20. Prior experience managing system development teams of 10+ technical team members.
21. Prior experience in telecommunications voice services and ordering, provisioning, and/or billing systems
22. Prior experience in delivering applications or infrastructure releases across multiple organizations and locations.
23. Prior experience in establishing teams across organizations to collaborate and develop a resolution to implementation or technical issues.
24. Pragmatic and practical about doing their best to follow a prescribed process but recognizes the reality that process deviations may be required. Ensure major checkpoints/documentation/reporting are aligned and completed to support the process. (i.e. everything may not be tested before being delivered to your group but then you know what to do to move forward).
25. Flexible in how their time is spent in the working environment, (some overtime and weekend work will be expected).
